Hannity's own statement was that he sought legal advice from Cohen. Billed or not, that is by definition a formal attorney client relationship. Furthermore, there could have been in-kind payment in lieu of cash, like propaganda.

Right, but if Hannity is now alleging no formal relationship, is he a "client?" Did Cohen reach to add a client to his list that makes a decent red herring? Or is there a legitimate relationship there and Hannity is downplaying it?

Cohen was in front of a judge so Hannity was a client. Hannity knew that Cohen listed him as a client and stressed he wanted his name kept secret NOT that he wasn't a client.
