I'll add two bits to his reasons for caution.
1) Sources SOUND like they may be the ones who gave Mueller evidence. In which case it doesn't even sound like they brought confirmation.https://twitter.com/benjaminwittes/status/985150023703912448 …
2) While SDNY prosecutors said yesterday they were proceeding very quickly w/Cohen investigation, I can't see investigation to be referred if Mueller had confirmed such damning information in case in chief.
3) One more bit: this story does't say WHEN Mueller received this information. Congress has denied it had corroborating evidence on the dossier reasonably recently and this rumor has been around for a very long time. If he received this last year, then he probably DIDN'T confirm.
Unless it was a strategic decision to spread the investigation.

As you know investigations starting in one district magically end up in another Circuit where there is some nexus and where the law on an important point is more favorable to the government's case.
Are the search/taint precedents better in SDNY/2nd?
The two best circuits in the country for the government are the 4th and 2nd. The best districts the SDNY and EDVA

Not at all (and arguably he might use corruption charges in SDNY to get him to flip on the conspiracy case). But if he had evidence Cohen lied under oath abt Prague, his Agents would have probable cause for case in chief search.
I think the @PalmerReport is correct. Mueller is spreading out the illegality so that others can cover for him if he is handcuffed (metaphorically) by rump. Plus, SDNY is where the crimes were committed.
