I'll give my best effort to understand why the doj felt it necessary to investigate an incoming nsa over talking to a Russian ambassador. I'm confident it was done with honest intentions. I mean, Susan Rice emailed herself that it was totally kosher.

I'm not saying that at all. (not sure how the Logan act would play into it). In fact, I actually wish they did investigate it. Instead the fbi outsourced their investigation to Perkins Coie/Crowdstrike. I have a problem with that.
