Maybe they thought the Podesta/Clinton leaks were enough to drown out the Access Hollywood tape. I wasn’t watching Fox News at the time (or any time), did it affect coverage? Good as time as ever to use your nuke if you have one. (I feel weird even using nuke analogies, sigh)

A reason I could see it being done is panic. Most media seemed to be saying the election was over & even the Very Serious, Very Moral Republicans couldn't accept this. Releasing it & getting the right wing to rant on it would be red meat and keep support. I'm doubtful here too
