Manafort (not Gates) wants more time to reply to Monday night’s Dreeben brief.https://twitter.com/big_cases/status/981551265451794432 …

@emptywheel Why would Manafort flip now if he didn't earlier?
Because Mueller is about to indict him with something he really doesn't want to be indicted for? I was thinking it was just Deripaska charges but maybe it's something even more onerous.
Note Mueller technically included Deripaska charges in the scope of his response the other day. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/04/03/about-the-oleg-deripaska-reference-in-the-mueller-memo/ …
Why would a new indictment make things any worse for Manafort? He's already facing a sentence that he won't outlive.
Possibly bc the next indictment won't be easily pardoned?
Why not? I think Manafort is too hot to pardon for anything right now, but I've long assumed a last-day-in-office pardon is quite possible.
Oh, I can imagine some charges (or co-conspirator indictments) that would be too toxic even for last day pardons.
The coming adverse rulings both in this civil attack and indictment dismissal motion are going to severely damage the Fox News / Mueller illegitimacy crowd TPs
It'd really be easier on her if Manafort would just flip already.
Would love to know Manafort’s views on the robustness of US witness protection at this very moment
Has that been ruled on yet?
