They get played by RU every single time there's contact between WH and Kremlin. They must know Kremlin will release a detail WH doesn't want out there; probably just never know which detail it'll be.
A pity:
1) No one in their right mind takes anything @PressSec says as true.
2) WH is playing catch up after letting RU reveal this detail, not them.
