Wouldn’t commercial satellite imagery already show anything like that?
I think they've long blocked commercial sat imagery--I recall @charlie_savage tried to get his own images for just this kind of purpose.

For sure. That episode seems more like a flouting-the-chain-of-command thing. If it were a security issue, you'd think they'd have mentioned that, beyond Mattis calling the compound and surrounding areas "sensitive sites."
