I don’t use WhatsApp to talk to sources about anything critical at this point by default. But tbh, not sure there’s any way to communicate w/o leaving some metadata trail.

You don't always get to choose, unfortunately. I think it's important for high-risk users to understand when and where metadata is gathered, and how this data is handled (retention, court order, etc).
