This Facebook news is a far bigger story than McCabe's firing.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/17/us/politics/cambridge-analytica-trump-campaign.html …

I suspect there are a lot of "chance meetings" that Bobby Three Sticks has been looking at while we've all been screaming about obstruction and Andy McCabe.

Wonder if they shared the Facebook data or derivatives with the Russian troll farm to guide the activity.

Probably not. The Russians were asking Americans and making some dumb decisions.

The way google ads target & follow ppl around on different devices shows how much data is compiled & stored without our explicit knowledge & consent.

Mercer made his $$ from mathematical formulas to predict the market at Renaissance. Same MO for elections.

There was a great article that explained 95% of this before the election, with the other 5 easy to guess. It should have been huge news then.

Read this about 2012. Over 15 million “ex-girlfriends” and friends’ unknowingly had their data crawled/scraped from a starting point of 1 million users. And this was within the FB rules and NYT did a glowing profile of the team.pic.twitter.com/0Y8QjGfVsz

Big difference, Cambridge stole the data. AMG "When people opted to do so, they were met with a prompt asking to grant the campaign permission to scan their Facebook friends lists, their photos & other personal information. A 2nd prompt, they asked for access to the news feeds"

Yes but the way Facebook worked - you didn’t know a friend had granted permission for them to crawl through your data. Turning 1mil who granted permission into 10s of millions.

The prompts were opt-in, not opt-out. That's significant. When you have to opt-in, you give permission or they get nothing

I don't think that information that users give freely to a free social network having been collected by a third party and re sold is "news" in any way.
