Big difference, Cambridge stole the data. AMG "When people opted to do so, they were met with a prompt asking to grant the campaign permission to scan their Facebook friends lists, their photos & other personal information. A 2nd prompt, they asked for access to the news feeds"

Yes but the way Facebook worked - you didn’t know a friend had granted permission for them to crawl through your data. Turning 1mil who granted permission into 10s of millions.

The prompts were opt-in, not opt-out. That's significant. When you have to opt-in, you give permission or they get nothing
