The sentence that asserts that the obstruction investigation is "close to completion" is directly sourced to "current and former US officials" and that's information only the Mueller team could know for sure.

I know that it often refers to Congress but it's not guaranteed. It's used to obscure already anonymous "official" sources in the broadest possible way.

Except that the story being told resembles what Congress knows, not what Mueller reveals he knows with each guilty plea (again the 5 of which you seem to be ignoring).

I'm not ignoring the guilty pleas. They are mainly after the fact "throwaway charges" used to pressure & bankrupt people into providing info to what looks like a yet another politically driven special counsel investigation
