The line between “enlightenment” and self absorbed narcissism, even highly intelectualized antisocial personality, is thin. I posit that enlightenment without altruism is fraud.

And I would define altruism not merely as active empathy but behaviorally, even if only on a small localized scale

my personal experience is that it's quite possible to spend a lot of time in an odd detached loving state. One is quite willing to help if asked or a natural opportunity avails itself, but feels little need to run out and help people.

anecdotally, I've heard others speak of the same sort of state. I don't claim it's enlightenment, it's not, it's a state, but it's interesting.
