i don’t think so. it’s a security and privacy tool. it’s dual use. it helps anyone keep their stuff private irregardless of their activities.

I was surrounded by state cops within 5 minutes of showing up to a public park overlooking Hood Canal, the location of a Navy Nuclear Sub base. They thought I was a guy 15 years younger. I had Signal on my phone, they geofenced for users of such apps. 1-18-18 12pm - 3pm.

Had my phone been targeted because of my ID, the cops would have known Who I Am. They didn't. (I got the CAD Log, so I know whose ID they ran on their radios.) Since then, same trip no cops. I've dropped Signal as an App.
