This came up in court today, sort of. Manafort's lawyer was imploring the judge to push back the trial date because of how complicated the case was. Asked for a November start. Judge Ellis: "That's not going to happen."

So he'll end up waiving venue now having not been able to get a delayed prosecution in a docket where one doesn't get that, no?
-
Logical defense bid here now, seems to me, would be a motion in DC to transfer the smaller and later case to VA 'for convenience.' But it's not really consistent w/what they've been asking for through yesterday.
-
Yeah, was wondering about that. Also not if they're going to move to dismiss both.
-
In any case, the DC one will surely be growing again in due course.

Fwiw, possibly thinking jury pool in Virginia better than one on DC?
-
That's definitely part of the reason, but I can't believe The Deep State has any love for a Manafort either.
-
Only takes 1 holdout juror to put the kibosh on a conviction.
-
As
@MasaccioEW never shuts up about this is a paper conviction. Not a lot of room here.

Because, and I am just spitballing here, Manafort's a fucking idiot?
-
Possible they were assured a pardon based on timing, and this timing is not helpful.
-
It is indeed not helpful.

Could it be as simple as to just annoy Special Counsel as they have to travel?
