Again: NBC missed the important bit. It's not that DOJ is contemplating charging those who hacked DNC. It's that Mueller is. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/03/01/nbcs-broken-story-about-mueller-charging-the-dnc-hackers/ …https://twitter.com/lrozen/status/969341966017269760 …

Regarding the evidence the government already had, do you think it's likely to be from webcams hacked by Dutch government hackers? I feel like the Dutch angle is being under reported.

That's part of it, but there's far more evidence than people are making out.

Much of it secret. The Dutch are important for when the US first got notice of the hacking. But the retroactive investigation would include forensics and US security people, and in no way just Crowdstrike.

So is it false that Democrats did not allow FBI to investigate the servers? I figured at this point the best evidence would come from 3-letter agency signals intelligence or testimony.

The FBI got the image of the server CS used wrt DNC, but remember, there were a bunch of other servers targeted.

OK, but here I think the reporting starts to lose track of the general fact of state hacking. We're spending 2 years talking about this while very few Americans are aware of China hacking the OPM. And America certainly does its share. That's why the "collusion" angle matters.

I'm not talking the state hacking.
