Regarding the evidence the government already had, do you think it's likely to be from webcams hacked by Dutch government hackers? I feel like the Dutch angle is being under reported.
-
-
-
That's part of it, but there's far more evidence than people are making out.
-
Secret or Public?
-
Much of it secret. The Dutch are important for when the US first got notice of the hacking. But the retroactive investigation would include forensics and US security people, and in no way just Crowdstrike.
-
So is it false that Democrats did not allow FBI to investigate the servers? I figured at this point the best evidence would come from 3-letter agency signals intelligence or testimony.
-
The FBI got the image of the server CS used wrt DNC, but remember, there were a bunch of other servers targeted.
-
OK, but here I think the reporting starts to lose track of the general fact of state hacking. We're spending 2 years talking about this while very few Americans are aware of China hacking the OPM. And America certainly does its share. That's why the "collusion" angle matters.
-
I'm not talking the state hacking.

I'm not understanding how they're missing the point. They reported that Mueller is contemplating charging them. What are they getting wrong?
-
Did you read the post?
-
Yup. When you first posted it.
-
So they think they had a SCOOP that charges are being contemplated. They don't. But that the decision was shifted to Mueller is big--but they don't even mention that.
-
I guess I thought the "scoop" was that it was Mueller rather than DOJ because the WSJ report you cite says DOJ
-
Nah. They claim they scooped the charges in general. Just like they claim they scooped the 21 states that was congressional testimony in June.

have been running around, but as read nbc excerpt in your post, it says mueller multiple times
-
Sure. Read the rest of their little homework assignment. They have ZERO fucking clue WSJ reported this, and therefore ZERO fucking clue why people think this is significant. Basically these three should retire from the cyber beat.

Don’t leave it to me to consider. Spell it out for me. What does it mean that it’s shifted to Mueller from DOJ?? Tied to someone/something he’s already investigating?

If only that could end the internal DNC staffer hack fake news.

Spot on. When WSJ reported possible charges back in November, they said Mueller agreed with DOJ to keep DNC hacking case with original prosecutors. Now it's rolled into Mueller's probe. The shift is for a reason.

So is there an implication that the doj can't be trusted to handle these prosecutions or does it just fall in line with Mueller's investigations?
