Still, Carter Page was smart enough to make it into the Naval Academy, & graduated in the top 10% of his class. Is this a case of book smarts, or is acting part of his repertoire? There’s something about him that reminds me of the court jester—jesters often made excellent spies.

Crazy? Maybe... but maybe crazy like a fox. It seems like everyone has written him off as a fool— incl. (ostensibly) those Russians who got busted. I can construct a scenario where the goofiness is part of the cultivated persona. Investigate him, write him off, &then he’s useful.
