How is that a valid support that Gessen doesn't understand American critiquing a piece that is about an indictment unrelated to the DNC hack?

Gessen argues she "showed the Russian effort to be more of a cacophony than a conspiracy" therefore it is absurd that "a foreign effort to muddle American politics can fundamentally change the fate of this country." I.e. this tree is puny by my lights, so there is no forest.
I think Gessen is correct to point to the very American things that got Trump elected.
