Not to be a smart alec, but on Democracy Now, you said these trolls are fluent in English. But Adrian Chen said they have bare grasp of the English language. Are you sure they are fluent in English?
No. But there is, reportedly, a language test. People who "speak" English get eliminated.
Some have said there’s a fluency test but who knows how good the test is. Not being fluent would explain some of the things found in the 200k database. Here’s a good interview on this.https://buff.ly/2ETNNt6

I don't understand why they eliminate people who speak English.
One reason I think IRA is a distriction, is not only that it was a half-assed operation, but I think there were much better persona management operations going on in addition to IRA.
Yeah I lean toward thinking there’s a lot of half-assed elements to it like retweeting Joy Reid tweets about Star Wars etc. Someone like Molly McKew might say it’s all an advanced “90-10” warfare strategy to blend in, but I doubt it.
If you look at the csv file of users from NBC, a lot of these accounts are Russian names and located in Moscow.
The tweets.csv file is better because you can see all the tweets and retweets. It’s mostly retweets I think (they start with “RT”). There’s some funny stuff like one troll created a poll about the access Hollywood tape, and trolls retweeting people you wouldn’t expect.
Tweets.csv was posted by NBC too, it’s the biggest file (like 50mb).
