I don't consider US democracy promotion in RU to be the same as RU democracy tainting, but you know Putin does. How did he respond after 2011, 2012, and 2014? Where does that escalation head?

Isn't the first end goal to prevent this from happening again? If so, how is more economic isolation (that it's not clear we can sustain, particularly as Trump refuses any global leadership role) going to do that?
