Understand the point, but come on -- doesn't *remotely* resemble treason? Not even remotely? Working with a (hostile) foreign power to harm the United States? That might not tick every box for the dictionary definition of treason, but I see some "resemblance"

So if Russia did attack us, using cyber warfare cuz it was 2016, not 1816, and the @GOP refuses to admit it, does it make it any less true or treasonous to aid and abet them?

I am pretty unimpressed with this analysis. Yes, as a basis for prosecution treason is very narrowly defined, but we’re not in court. Colluding with a hostile foreign power to rig an election is well within the scope of what ordinary people consider treasonous.

I think it would be helpful if scolds against even colloquial usage suggested an alternative that captured the gravity of what we're talking about.

It's tempting to throw the accusation out, if only to cut through the willful obtuseness of Trump supporters. Better, though, to say POTUS is compromised.

My only complaint is the bothsidism in the article. Yes, people are calling Trump treasonous, but this is not the first or only time the word has been misused.
