Extremely disturbing: This DHS statement fails to cite a single fact misrepresented in the story, which accurately reported the ON-CAMERA comments by Jeanette Manfra that a number of states were compromised by Russian hackers. Who ordered that this fact-free statement be issued?https://twitter.com/DHSgov/status/963083725859934208 …

No -- otherwise we'd have a comprehensive list of states that were compromised, and we do not. The position of the National Association of Secretaries of States is that only one state was compromised. So the states and the feds can't even agree on the scope of the problem.
-
How do you define "compromise"? Maybe that would be a more worthy topic for reporting than BREAKING a story that doesn't really BREAK news?
-
Maybe you could take off your media critic hat, jump in the trenches and do some reporting of your own on this issue. In fact, if you come up with the classified list of states that were penetrated by Russian hackers, I'll happily retweet it.

Maybe it is a formal policy of NBC that reading documents isn't actually reporting (which is not all I do but Ken knows I do that bc that's when I've handed him his ass before). Maybe NBC has a rule that their reporters may NOT to read documents pertaining to issues they report?

ken knows his job is to ask people in power with obvious agendas what's going on and then uncritically repeat it. not knowing shit about shit makes that job easier

The response says we misrepresented facts and and confused the public. When did we do that?
-
In my opinion, pushing the story suggesting it was BREAKING anything was misleading.
-
Not my call and not my story. But I do take issue with suggesting that we misrepresented the facts when we use her own words!
-
Again, I think selling it as Breaking is the problem. And I said so when the story came out.

I saw the interview with Andrea Mitchell. Her statement is different from what she said in the interview.
