As I said in September: I think some of Steele's claims MADE IN UK are improbable. But Grassley referral, especially w/Feinstein's suggestion they got 1023's that undermine it, doesn't prove Steele lied to FBI.

If we pretend this is not a politicized criminal referral but instead an argument abt FISA, they make some fair points, but also miss some and miscite Steele in at least one place.

In any case, there are some interesting details about Isikoff in there, but until we know precise dates of reauthorizations, that, too may be bogus.

Anyway. I spent way the fuck too much time writing this today but I've got a nifty graphic to start building up.

I disagree with some of your analysis, but it's very thorough... One thing you may want to do is read the Isikoff yahoo article. It's very clear that the FBI was leaking to substantiate Steele's claims.pic.twitter.com/qAWtMdS7W9

Thank you for telling me the obvious.
-
Perhaps consider this "obvious" info when you address the "need for secrecy" argument regarding the inclusion of the Yahoo application in the FISA app.pic.twitter.com/CfyBS6Ic3r
-
You have evidence that's not why it was there?
-
I'm not sure what you're asking.. I think my overall critism with your analysis (which was otherwise pretty thoughtful), is that it doesn't scrutinize the FBIs role and knowledge of the Isikoff article. Clearly they had a hand in that article, yet used it to corroborate Steele
-
I spend prolly 1500 words doing just that. Want me to copy it for you? Astounding you missed like a huge chunk of the piece.
-
You almost come close to criticizing the FBI for possibly using the Isikoff article for the FISA renewals, but give them an out, claiming surveilled info could've made the Yahoo article irrelevant. 1) This is speculative 2) Fruit of the poisonous tree re 1st apppic.twitter.com/mAe1pkFKPi

The only problem is those who "Stand by their man" have no clue what that graphic represents. They're all going, seeeee it all stems from that dossier.

Steele memo box prolly too big (Maybe ok for initial request, but underplays subsequent Intel from FISA), and FISA box almost for sure too big (underestimates multi-INT, multi-agency CI effort).
