His posture was and is to preserve secrecy. His present complaining about abuse of oversight to expose is consistent with past silence on abuse of process to hide. No inconsistency there.

I remember when he broke into the Senate oversight committee's computers to steal evidence. I also remember him lying about it (and getting away with it).
