I think both men money launder on their own. There's no indication, aside from Manafort having used Trump Tower as a laundering vehicle himself, that Manafort has been involved in Trump's laundering.

In what ways can Trump's retaliation hurt Manafort more than Mueller? Is it possible Trump or his friends purposefully leaked T's message (abt M not flipping) as warning to M or encouragement to 'stay strong'?
It's not just Trump. It's Russian organized crime, which can get to Manafort in prison.
