One thing I note in this post on latest Carter Page FISA story: Nothing Mueller has done to date appears to be fruit of Steele dossier. Not even for Manafort. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/01/29/carter-page-did-not-need-to-be-a-spy-to-be-targeted-under-fisa/ …

And once I pointed that out to you you claimed I was defending the dossier, which couldn't be more hysterical.
-
An entire narrative swept the country over a fictional dossier. Americans were spied on. It was used by an admin to target people, politically. People need to go to prison over this.
-
You're arguing that a good faith belief, based on far more than the dossier, that Russians are recruiting people is political? Your worries about foreign recruiting turn off during elections?
-
No I never actually had hysterics over it in the first place. Welcome to reality. It’s been going on since politics were invented. I’m much more concerned with the weaponization of our IC and LE for politics. That’s a big problem.
-
No. You're concerned that bc some of the people Trump employed were of pre-existing (by years!) CI interest, the subsequent investigation affected those same people post-campaign.
-
Now you’re telling me what I’m concerned about? How arrogant.
-
Well, you're misportraying what actually happened. I'm more fact-checking you than telling you what you're concerned about. Perhaps you're concerned bc you misunderstand dates? Or love foreign spies? I don't know why you're concerned.
-
I’m fascinated with how sure you are that you’re correct. What will you do if you’re not? Because the facts aren’t actually known yet. Will you still stubbornly insist you’re right?

Laundering dodgy intel? I take it you don't share Rangappa's conviction that FISA's intel corroboration process is rock solid?
-
There is a lot of corroboration. But the standards for "intel from consultants and/or foreign partners" is not what it would be in a criminal case, by design.
-
But her points about reapplication are ones I made here: https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/01/29/carter-page-did-not-need-to-be-a-spy-to-be-targeted-under-fisa/ …
