It is pretty flat around here. Did she come from a shelter?
Yup. Apparently dogs don't get adopted easily in the south, so get shipped up here (MI). We're fostering her from the local Humane Society. Our last foster was from AR. Both Pit mixes.
There's a lot of dog-fighting in MS and Pits are popular. People don't take care of them sometimes, and they escape, run wild, or stay on a chain. A few times a year there's a raid on puppy mills and the shelters are overwhelmed. The state leg is also awful about animal rights.
She definitely lived in a house, bc she knows the best tactics for stealing people food. Also how to terrorize the infrastructure. But no stairs. Also a dog food snob perhaps bc she got so much people food.
Ha! Well I hope she gets fat and happy in her new life. It's too damn hot that far south anyway, for man or beast. It's why half of us are halfway drunk in the summertime.
Like I said, she's making tremendous progress. Once that happens someone will adopt her away from us right away.
I've a friend who fosters and falls in love with them all. She has four dogs now, spoiled and sassy, and an inability to ever say 'no'. :) You're good people.
Our rescue had to be carried upstairs to sleep initially. Treats helped. So did the carrying up the steps- he hated that. 7 yrs later, he still really wishes we had carpeted steps.
