As I note, the updated version of WaPo on Trump's attempt to fire Mueller makes it clear McGahn, Bannon, Priebus all in on it, and I contemporaneous reporting would put Ruddy in on it. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/01/25/how-does-don-mcgahn-threaten-to-quit-without-telling-trump/ … So will Mueller call Ruddy?

"personal relationship" might be a bit much, but here's a perspective on the Ashcroft/Hospital episode:https://www.washingtonian.com/2013/05/30/forged-under-firebob-mueller-and-jim-comeys-unusual-friendship/ …

given Washington Post article about "brothers in arms" and other similar articles, entirely reasonable for Trump and others to perceive that Comey and Mueller had personal relationship. Seems to me that they did.

WaPo bases claim on 1) both men went to college in VA (!!!

!!!) and 2) both threatened to resign in 2004 -- which FBI Director Chris Wray also did. Is the distinction that Wray went to college in CT? That's why he's not a "brother in arms"?
Do you have any, um, evidence? -
In any case, people who know them say different. But what would those people know? Better to rely on the "both went to school in VA" rule, just to be safe.

I try to crosscheck as much as possible, though these are murky water. Last June, Trump allies were challenging Mueller-Comey connection e.g. http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/338210-trump-allies-hit-mueller-on-relationship-with-comey … But not just allies, even WaPo commented on "brothers in arms". https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2017/live-updates/trump-white-house/trump-comey-and-russia-how-key-washington-players-are-reacting/brothers-in-arms-the-long-friendship-between-mueller-and-comey/ …pic.twitter.com/Llb0JVEqci

here's a contemporary criticism of Mueller-Comey connection by Trump sympathizer. Logical that Trump would be concerned by reported Mueller-Comey relationship. Comey is important witness and possible that Mueller's assessment will be biased.pic.twitter.com/ugHDGAQWQp
