to the extent that Trump objected to Mueller's conflict of interest arising from his personal relationship with Comey, it seems entirely natural that Trump should consider option of firing Mueller, as many people were suggesting. Other than gossip, what's the offence?

Do you have a link showing that a relationship between Mueller and Comey is what he was concerned about? Do you have any evidence that such a personal relationship exists? You're an evidence guy, right?

given Washington Post article about "brothers in arms" and other similar articles, entirely reasonable for Trump and others to perceive that Comey and Mueller had personal relationship. Seems to me that they did.

WaPo bases claim on 1) both men went to college in VA (!!!
!!!) and 2) both threatened to resign in 2004 -- which FBI Director Chris Wray also did. Is the distinction that Wray went to college in CT? That's why he's not a "brother in arms"?

In any case, people who know them say different. But what would those people know? Better to rely on the "both went to school in VA" rule, just to be safe.
