American far-right propaganda is clearly more impactful than whatever Russia's doing. I sense some folks highlight the Russian stuff in order to emphasize the nature of the content— that it is propaganda. Like, "see, a foreign adversary is amping this stuff, its nonsense."

While your arguments on overblowing the Russian aspect are spot-on, I worry how we'll get folks to understand they're on a steady diet of bullshit. Identifying overlap between the American & Russian propaganda is helpful in that sense. Just a thought, for a different discussion.
