For those who aren't clued in, this is deliberate tribal Kabuki theater on both sides. Each tribe using this to pump up their tribe & roar offensively at the other tribe. And oh yes, hurt a lot of innocent bystanders in the process.https://twitter.com/damianpaletta/status/954555432860778496 …

The problem is Trump is on the classic path of a populist dictator takeover, and everything that weakens the institutions of the federal government just makes him stronger. This will backfire on the Dems.
-
Think this is the longstanding theme of the GOP & not just Trump. As to backfiring on Dems, I'm more skeptical there. Think it does sway the Indies. In both directions.

Trump may not be popular, he may not even be competent, but he still drives the popular narrative. He speaks and the media reacts. The voluminous bile he spews gets spread by every outlet. His repeated blames will most likely stick to the Dems.
-
I actually see it differently, perhaps even hopefully. :-) Trump feeds his/GOP base. Dems feed their base. Indies get fed by both sides. Results in last several Presidential elections show close split of US public that wobbles. Don't see big change. Small changes make difference.

Yes, you are hopeful. :-) I think Trump's presidency (and his GOP enablers) has already perceptibly pushed the status quo past the breaking point. We shall see...
