Not to be a party pooper, but shouldn't Diggs have been penalized for throwing his helmet? No, bc time ran out?

They did throw a flag on it, just meaningless at that point.

Even if he were penalized, it would be a dead ball foul - penalty would have to be assessed on the (not-to-occur) kickoff.

Right: that's what I had concluded. So you can TOO throw a helmet and get away with it, in those circumstances. Bet Goodell fines him just to be an ass.

I'm reasonably sure that the foul after time ran out would be assessed in someone's mind. He'll get it on the official scorecard, I imagine. On the other hand, if the game had ended when he touched the end zone, which it had, there's no foul to call.

As a Minnesotan whose Vikings have found infinite ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory it sure was nice to be on the other end of a phenomenal game-ending play. I'd be nice if Bud Grant (at 90) could witness a Superbowl win. Maybe someone could kidnap Brady.

Looks to me from this video that the ref did throw the flag for it. Not sure if it was enforced.pic.twitter.com/8RpM9GoFNs

Time apparently hadn't run out because Vikings had to make one more play. Saints had to come back out after leaving field. Some headed for locker room.

The refs are prob pretty happy when the final buzzer sounds. They're like: "BYE".
