I don't see a problem. Fighting surveillance through the insitutitions that authorize it seems pointless.
All we're doing is hastening better privacy. VPNs, encryption by default, proxies, 2 factor authentication...there's no surveillance if there is nothing to surveil. 
True...but now we have mutli-protocol hydras like MAID... The point is that the more they push to read our boring electricity bills that's none of their business and does not prevent crime the more people use methods to ensure they are less able to do so.
