That said, the article at @theintercept had to mention NSA's spying on TOR nodes, let alone the vulnerabilities-by-design that could be buried and yet undiscovered that could be used for the NSA spying. Otherwise it is misleads people to believe in TOR as a panacea.
Tor is necessary for some purposes where even good VPNs are inadequate. And VPNs are far more susceptible to surveillance than Tor. Which is why Tim's point was so dumb.
