Speaking of special treatment — has anyone ever offered a cogent explanation for why the DOJ didn't try to compel hands-on access to the hacked DNC email server last year? It's the lack of an explanation that baffles me even more than the action itself. I can't get past it.
Because the FBI doesn't often compel victims to do things victims don't want to do and FBI has a very close relationship with CrowdStrike?

A "close relationship with CrowdStrike" is weak sauce when you're talking about abandoning best practices in such a consequential case. Also, the DNC had self-serving reasons to portray themselves as victims of Russian espionage. All the more reason to adhere to best practices.
