👇🏾Here's the Jedi mind trick. Republicans fund oppo research by Fusian GPS in 9/15. @brithume suggests Steele joined the same firm in June 2016 but didn't use *anything* that was already collected over 9 mos. He started completely from scratch and had a full report in 1 mo. 🙄https://twitter.com/brithume/status/944701727382519808 …

Your first “fact” is incorrect. The GOP funding of Fusion GPS had ended before Steele was hired and the dossier undertaken. https://twitter.com/asharangappa_/status/944625919645442048 …

Fusion GPS is a firm that gathers information on Russia for corporate clients. So for 9 mos, Fusian GPS was researching, what -- where Trump buys his favorite brand of ice cream? And Dems come along, see that Fusian has nothing, and then offer to pay more? Doesn't make sense.

Possible that Steele's intel connections allowed him to dig way deeper than Fusion had been able to beforehand. But clearly the original intent of the project -- when it was commissioned -- was to find Trump ties to Russia. The Steele ultimately authored the report is red herring

And either way, is completely irrelevant to the most important point, which is that if any of it made its way into a FISA application, it's verified, corroborated, and true. Sorry, dude.

Stick with this point then! With advantage that Grassley seems to back that.

I don't understand McCarthy's article at all, it's a rambling mess. And he's wrong that you have to allege a crime in a FISA affidavit.

I think he's likely right that doj evaluated the dossier based off Steele's past work and not on merits of dossier itself. But he way overstates import of that, especially wrt FISA.
