How is that solution not a denial of women's agency?

It's a decent interim step, like affirmative action, to shift long engrained socialization roles?

OK. Now I wonder how it would be rec'd if it were explicit: "Now we're going to start Q&A. And b/c we've found women in general are uncomfortable asking Qs if the first Q is asked by a man – Sir, could you step back from the mic to let the woman behind you ask the first Q."
