Am I? Don't know the breed but he's got wrinkles and the biggest neck ever. Also really friendly and sweet, not at all standoffish.
We're still in negotiations for a long-term contract. His body is relatively tiny for a dog that weighs 70 and could easily pull me off my feet.

In any case, he's obviously a mix with something less wrinkly -- maybe even a beagle. Which might explain why this guy tries to hunt both squirrels and birds.

Nope, you have a Shar Pei there. I’ve owned several. They are a strong protective breed, prone to a prey instinct. My current Pei actually killed a groundhog in the back yard. The squirrels play catch me if you can but she’s not quick enough.

Yeah, he's gone after squirrels and birds so far. Not sure I'll ever be able to take him off leash in my little urban hellhole. He's 2 and needs some dog socialization which is a bit late.

Final comment. It’s good when they are bred with other dogs like yours. The purebred Peis are a physical train wreck due to overbreeding. Cross breeding with other genetics helps avoid breed specific problems like Shar Pei fever and mast cell tumors. Your dog looks perfect to me.
