"Thoughtful," really? Wishful thinking is more like it. Moreover, it's off-message; he must not have gotten the memo from Ty Cobb: Flynn was Obama's guy; Trump barely knew who he was. Hell, he might have even supported Hillary, "lock her up" notwithstanding.

You can't blame @AndrewCMcCarthy for what Ty Cobb said. It's a piece with a very different take from mine, and it might turn out to be wishful thinking. But we shouldn't be so locked into our own read that we can't engage with it as thoughtful.

Agree that McCarthy’s got a plausible optimistic take. I also wonder how #graymail might have factored in here given case facts and all Flynn knew. Will also be interesting to see how Flynn’s myriad potential ethics issues get resolved.

I don’t know. I’m not very optimistic about this at all. I don’t think there’s an espionage conspiracy, but I do think it will go on for a long time, be ugly, embarrassing and (for some) incriminating, and leave precedent none of will like living with.

This take is more than plausible

My prediction: This is going to resolve quickly and it's going to be worse than folks think and it's not going to take much hoop jumping.
