Are the domestic internet spying apparatus China vs US, remotely comparable? in scope, intensity and use by the authorities?
-
In scope, broadly speaking yes. Intensity of use is a rapidly changeable political and moral decision.
-
So you think the chinese firewall, clamp downs on anonymous accounts and vpns, warrantless access exercised every moment (which means it is streamlined) is comparable to US domestic spying.
-
Effect operations and surveillance are not the same thing. Please be clearer when you ask a question.
-
I am asking
@emptywheel not you. The question is simple and clear: are the domestic spying programs, taken as a whole, comparable? Or not. -
You have fun with your bad faith question.
-
“Bad faith question”.
Look I you can run interference here but @emptywheel should defend her first implicit suggestion they are similar and followup explicit hint, or admit they are actually not comparable at all. -
Hi. You can read years of my reporting on this and possibly a post o this article. But Twitter has made it clear they prefer I block people like you rather than call them bad names so I'm going to do that.
