When you factor all these meetings together, it amounts to Israeli-UAE-Saudi crafting of the “ultimate peace plan.” Though I disagree the meeting w Kislyak was aimed at encouraging regime change. It was the opposite, hence need for “back channel”

I'm not sure how they expect(ed) to get RU on board with ditching Iran. But yes, it appears largely driven by Israeli-KSA-UAE agreements, and the new coziness bt KSA and RU suggests they're on board too.

It is also the case that Intel committee investigations are not approaching influence of other countries broadly enough, so (if Carter Page's testimony is any indication) lots of these pieces won't get any scrutiny.
