I'm not sure how they expect(ed) to get RU on board with ditching Iran. But yes, it appears largely driven by Israeli-KSA-UAE agreements, and the new coziness bt KSA and RU suggests they're on board too.
But on top of all the foreign influence problems with it, there's the problem that Kusher undoubtedly got his ass handed to him on a silver platter with a shiny orb. He's WAY out of his league.

It is also the case that Intel committee investigations are not approaching influence of other countries broadly enough, so (if Carter Page's testimony is any indication) lots of these pieces won't get any scrutiny.
