The genocide in Yemen is guilt Americans bear -- Democrats and Republicans. A rare thing the parties share.

I see your point and Obama bears some responsibility. But like saying War on Terror belongs to GWB because 9/11 occurred on his watch.
-
Is it fair to say our torture program is Bush's responsibility?
-
I think all these issues are incredibly complex and cannot be assigned to a single President. Read Company Man by John Rizzo re torture
-
Company Man, the book that completes its first lie at word number 64? That book? https://www.emptywheel.net/2014/04/17/a-guide-to-john-rizzos-lies-for-lazy-journalists/ …
-
You can take issue with specific dates/facts, that's fine. But he was in the middle of the torture pgm so I'm take his word over yours.Sorry
-
He. Is. Lying. Per public CIA documents. So by all means take his word over mine. But if you do, know that you are deliberately choosing to believe in outright lies. That's how genocides are allowed to continue.
-
Not a truthful word in his book? Come on. Be reasonable. I'm not arguing everything he said was factual. But he was in the middle of it
-
All the more reason for him to lie.

It's disingenuous to say Obama started US support of SA. That goes back decades. He did nothing to fix it. But you can't heap all the blame on him.
-
1) I'm not heaping "all of the blame" on him. I'm saying Trump made it worse. 2) The genocide in Yemen is part of Saudi invasion that started under Obama.
-
So what did the Rupublican-dominated house and senate do to rein in the Saudis, pray tell?
-
...I have a feeling that you're missing the point here: the point being is that while the relationship w/ Saudi isn't new; this war and blockade was kicked off under Obama; he should be tried for war crimes as much as Saudi & our current President should.

But is it really fair to blame Obama in any way? Is this not liberal guilt in trying to to create another “both sides” false equivalency. Surely we know that Obama did not intend to hasten a genocide by aiding the Saudis in a part of the world where “good guys” are scant.
-
I’m just gonna go ahead and admit that this is not a situation I’m as familiar with as I should be. Can someone link an informative Yemeni genocide article I can read? Clearly I need to do my homework and ask forgiveness for my ignorance.
-
It's a rare thing to see someone admit fault on the internet and ask for better information. Congrats man.

Ok, Obama sucks. You won. What's your solution to help the people of Yemen? I would imagine they are of far more importance to you than left vs. left politics.
-
The first step is to stop thinking of the former President's support for war crimes as a minor point that was won in a debate. We need to have a real anti-war movement again in this country. We need to hold *everyone* responsible.
-
yep! That being said: as for material support, please donate to
@monareliefye and@hope_relief Hope and Relief especially, as they provide treatment to malnourished citizens of Yemen. http://yemenhopeandrelief.org/donate/

Stunned and horrified at the delusion my fellow Democrats are bringing here. Been watching this atrocity with nausea since 2015.
