Kristol's ideas undermined the GOP long before he promoted Palin. He advocated total obstruction of Bill Clinton's health care initiative. He called for pre-emptive war in Iraq. If the GOP adopts his sophistry that Trump is the primary problem, they'll continue to disintegrate.

The first presidential campaign Kristol worked on featured the Willie Horton ad. Then he worked hand-in-glove with Newt Gingrich. But it's Trump who invented demagoguery and moral bankruptcy.
