Multiple passports are normal for people who, for example, travel to Israel AND Saudi Arabia. Can't enter one if passport stamped by other.
Yes, I spent much of yesterday explaining that. Tho 3 gets you beyond just an Israel and non-Israel passport.
Personally know a (German) businessman with more than 3 passports. Simply more convenient than stupid border questions (esp. entering U.S.)
I'm not contesting there are good reasons for it. But explaining he needed to do so to hide travel fr CBP prolly won't fly here.
It’s definitely not weird to have 3 passports from the same country- avoids conflicts between rivals and time delays when obtaining visas.
Yeah, I know. I spent much of yesterday explaining that. But much of Manafort's recent travel hasn't been to visa countries.
Also: are they saying he has non-US passports with fake names?
No. And that has not been alleged. There was a lot of conflation (by former prosecutors who should know better) of the various allegations.
Okay. Weird phrasing then, isn't it?
Usual when you travel a lot to visa-restrictive places as can take months without passport to get a visa. Also the israel/muslim world thing
Yup. Spent much of yesterday explaining that. 3 gets you beyond the Israel/non-Israel rule explanation tho.
2 US - one is eg at Indian or Chinese consulate getting visa-stamped, which can take months, so you need another to travel.
Conversations with world service journalists a few years back where they had 3 or even 4 each, between visas and obscuring travel history.
