The way I read it is "we take such allegations seriously; if you have evidence that it happened, tell us. so we can fix it".

They did tell him. They’ve made a serious sourced allegation that this data reached Russian hackers via Kaspersky.

Do you expect the WSJ to give the exact lines of code/exploit/human by which it went from Kaspersky to the Russians?

If a credible source tells you that your password database is trading on dark markets, you don’t “demand proof of an exploit”. You look.

This has been going on for months - anonymous (btw FBI) press briefings. They’re entitled to ask for any evidence.

The funny thing is that if there *was* collusion there wouldn’t be any technical evidence of a product flaw.

You’re demanding that the NSA turn over evidence that (1) could only be available to Kaspersky, (2) would only exist if no collusion.

I agree that if the NSA has such evidence they’d damn well better share it. But the fact that they don’t have it isn’t a defense of K.

Why do we believe it'd be NSA when 1) NYT says they only recently came to understand this 2) NSA didn't find it when they hacked Kas in 2015

Because it’s probably a management move divorced from technology. You don’t get big in Russia without Putin’s say so.

Yeah, but Putin also has (had) incentive to have them be viable company. My guess is RU is using other AVs in similar ways now.

I think getting access to secure US systems matters WAY more to Putin than the couple hundred mil their AV industry brings in
