How would you recommend people campaigning against unjustified killing by kneeling respond when attacked by Trump in bad faith?
Not my question. Do you believe bots are only ever used by people acting in bad faith?
-
-
wait-by definition aren't bots impersonating peeps? isn't that inherent bad faith? at least watching a TV product ad you know they r actors
-
That's a really good question. I'm not sure my answer wrt legal v ethical standards would be the same.
-
given the weaponization of public opinion is whats going down, on a business model platform- 'disclosure' should/needs to be required
-
Yes, I'd love disclosure, and also for bots pushing commercial products. That seems a no-brainer.
-
I was thinking bots who are pushing fake news.....a disclosure: "I am a bot" "I amplify 'fake news'
-
Sure--but on the NFL hashtags they're *not* pushing fake news. They're pushing opinion.
-
I use that term loosely. Bots do NOT have opinions... that is a human expression.
-
I think what you want is a "paid for by." But that's going to take some doing on Twitter.

That's not a claim I ever made
-
So bots are sometimes used by people who legit believe, even passionately, in a topic?
-
Thats why I wrote that in the thread.
-
You wrote "But the bots aren't amplifying those message. This is about amplifying the division." Tweet before that said something similar.
-
By saying that you 1) suggested (against what DFR showed) that bots couldn't be believers 2) amplifying not legit tactic for true believers.

Possible some people employ single bots for clever, silly, creative purposes. Bot armies are always evil and need to be removed
