Maybe we should have yearly major city evacuations now to see whether they're possible or not. & to ID how poor, especially, would fare.

Of course such effort would cost billions for any major city & cause casualties. But practice'd be required to pull off evac.

Soooo. That's the problem w/evac. Maybe Murica should focus on resilience rather than a new wall and 14 new TSA screens?

Also maybe we should treat climate denialists as a clear and present threat to public safety?

How many days ago did we get yet another report of how many decades Tillerson's Exxon sat on climate knowledge?http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-hiltzik-exxonmobil-20170822-story.html …

Good question. It makes sense we're not seeing those pics, but I'm curious how many shut down and how many have skeleton crews risking lives

I have tried to get major corps to practice evacuation of employees as part of disaster recovery planning. Would be better than nothing.

At home. We've had about 15in of rain. If we get 20 more, we may bug out. That's looking very possible.

Nope. People die in evacuations all the time. Too dangerous. Not like a fire drill.

Yup. Just pointing that out. Can't evac without practice, at least for First Responders, but can't evac w/o casualties.

that would be the responsible thing to do, yes. but it's unclear whether we're even going to get it together for the 2020 census soooo 🤷🏻‍♀️

If people were told that a nuke was going to drop/tsunami hit in 3 days, they'd try to evacuate. It'll happen, so we have to train for it.

Also I recall during the black out years back there was basically no transportation & millions of people got out of the city. It's possible.

Bridges and tunnels will be inadequate to move 8M people under literally any circumstance. it's math.
