To answer questions: Apparently "bollox" is acceptable Irish spelling. Now let's fight abt spelling of "ye fecker" & derivative.

Spouse just got home. He's very cross I'm spelling it "bollox." I told him he's been gone so long he doesn't know Ireland updated spelling.
-
Threaten him with an extra 'x' on the end if he doesn't calm down.
-
Oh. I like that.
-
Also, bc he's Irish he pronounces it "caem" down.

I'm sure it's in the Irish constitution ...somewhere.
-
I also say "glove box" which was embarrassing when I worked in auto industry but now seems a fair trade off, especially w/craic as well
-
I wonder whether other Irish people ask for your passport if you use the adjective "wee", or whether they let that slide?
-
Spouse says that! I don't though. "Grand" is his tell. If he uses that I know he's out been drinking with some lads.

If you want to get into the nitty gritty, 'Bollix' is the Dublin spelling of the word. All about the pronunciation. "Ye bleedin' bollix ye!"
-
I married into Offaly (heh). But I can almost say "ah, me father-in-law's from" [town in the west] & sound credible.
-
Good people from there. Have mates down that way.. Lots of extra d's in words with 'th' in them. Mudder. Fahder.Dis, dat, dezz and dohs

-
"Dtigh" being the top part of your leg, yeah.
-
Hahaha love it!

Curious how you got the passport - I'm naturalized through parents but understood my spouse could only get it after living there 3+ years
-
What year did you get married? I not only married well, I married in timely fashion.
-
We're actually not yet. But I looked at the website several yrs ago. Seemed residency needed (and her not working during that time)
-
They changed the law in 2001, bc Ireland was becoming a lily pad for all manner of rubbish to get into the EU. I applied right away.
-
Got it. Thanks

if my relatives over there are any indicator, you get to throw around the C-word casually too if you want
-
I did train spouse not to use that in polite company.
