Note, with a few exceptions (text of comms, archives), US LE can get this w/a subpoena. So it's actually what US readily accesses already.https://twitter.com/AlexKokcharov/status/896059852950089728 …

Sure. But otherwise they can't get it bc of MLAT treaties. It's definitely all on file here, for ready access.
While the reach of US security services is significant I doubt they will aim to start political repression on Russia's scale
On RUs' scale? No. But US LE has used social media to police dissent, especially protests, already.
And unlike RU, US security services have even readier access to all of this stuff, w/no exception, for non-Americans.
In Russia people are sent to jail for posting or even liking something on social media that does not support the Kremlin narrative
Yes. And people are sent to jail here for protesting or being black based, in part, on FB or Twitter collection.
Once again, I'm not saying US as bad as RU. But it is hard to say RU can't have LE access to stuff on own citizens that US has for world.
Remember, too, that apparently rogue FSB agents were using a hacked US service to spy on Russians.
