"Author of the code of Kronos" =/= "Author of Kronos" and not a single person should claim it is the same. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40833951 …pic.twitter.com/cld0tU11BV

The indictment alleges Hutchins authored Kronos, period. This "confession" says he authored code in it.
How is that backing off the indictment?
Because code in Kronos =/= Kronos.
From the indictment: "knowingly conspired and agreed with each other[..]" " Writing malware, and getting someone else to sell it, is illegal
Sure. And the moving goalposts of this "confession" raise real questions whether that happened.
Moreover, selling malware is NOT illegal (and not what alleged). Selling a wiretapping device for purpose of wiretapping is.
And malware that specifically swipes banking details isn't a wiretapping device?
It's not clear that the code Hutchins admitted to writing did that. Evidence suggests the contrary.
Has anybody done any analysis to see whether the code he posted on his blog was the same as in Kronos, btw?
